The trouble with choice…
Tuesday, January 26th, 2010In July I wrote a blog post titled, “Keeping it Simple“. The main idea centered on the beauty of simplicity and how I try to keep everything as simple as possible within the Career Tree Network. Simple as a Business Strategy.
Just last night I watched a TED talk by Psychologist, Barry Schwartz. In his presentation, which you can view here, Barry talks about how the abundance of choice in our society is making people unhappy. There are so many choices that people (a) don’t know what to choose and (b) fear that they’ve made the wrong choice because a better option may be out there.
For example, at a grocery store there might be 175 different types of salad dressing and 40 varieties of toothpaste.
I would argue that in the world of Health Care recruiting a similar problem exists. There are so many recruitment “avenues” that organizations find it difficult to know which ones to use. And, there is a real fear that your ideal candidates may be using a source that you’re not using.
And I’m here to tell you that Career Tree Network is the simple solution to this complex problem.
The sole mission of my company is to be the marketplace in Wisconsin for Health Care career opportunities. Our websites are streamlined and focused to meet your specific hiring needs.
An employment marketplace requires that employers and candidates come together in one place. So, I kindly ask that your organization rally around the Career Tree Network so that it becomes the default “employment marketplace” in Wisconsin.
With one “default” solution, it will make your job extremely easy. You won’t need to advertise on 13 different websites. You won’t have fear that a large group of candidates are using some unknown source. And best of all, you will save your organization a boat load of money.
In this utopia environment, all the candidates and employers will be in one place…just like the golden days when everyone looked in the newspaper for employment opportunities. This is my vision for Career Tree Network, and to achieve it…I’ll need your help.
